Hey!
Decided to do a page just to share some information about myself to you. :)
I am the eldest of 4 boys; I have 3 younger brothers (1 waiting for NS, 1 doing industrial design at a polytechnic, and the last 1 is Secondary 2).
My parents are running an italian cafe at Bussorah Street. Here's the link: www.vintagedelicafe.com.sg. You can also find the cafe on Facebook. Reservations required. My dad is a retired police officer and my mother a retired accountant.
I came from a neighbourhood secondary school then went to Jurong Junior College. I was a Drum Major/Drill Instructor in the Military Band during my secondary school days and was a normal band member when I was at JJC.
Later in NS, I was posted to SAF Shooting Contingent as Assistant Chief Clerk, basically overseeing and ensuring that administrative processes at the unit went smoothly.
I graduated from NIE with a Diploma in General Education. When I was there, I co-wrote and co-directed NIE's very first musical called "Love Is...". I composed all the songs for the musical and acted as one of the main characters.
My interests include singing, music, acting, writing, philosophy, gaming, drama and theatre. I also volunteer at Singapore Drama Educator's Assocation and help out at my family's cafe from time to time.
Why I became a teacher?
Well, you could say it started during my secondary school days. I was the maths failure of the class. I kept on failing after Secondary 3 in both Elementary Maths and Additional Maths. But a few months prior to my prelims, my mother got me a tutor who taught me really well and I passed for the first time for my prelims! I got a A1.
After that, I tried teaching tuition to my juniors and realized that they also did well and improved in their score. More importantly, they learnt and understood the concepts better.
From then on, I decided I wanted to help to guide children in their studies and inspire them to go for their dreams.
Dreams? Your dream is to be a teacher?
Well, not really. My dream is to be either a singer/song-writer with at least an album and/or an stage actor or playwright (the person who writes the script). I'm currently (in my free time, if I have any) waiting for my songs to be recorded in a compilation album by an independent recording label where the album will have other songs from other artists. Hopefully, they'll hear my other songs and would want to do an album of my songs. ^_^
So, it is the dreams, passions and love that make your life meaningful. Chase your dreams but don't forget that without sustenance, they might never turn into a reality.
